This Vera Wang Lavender 'Lillian' flat comes in a rather amazing 7 color options!  I like the classic round toe and that it's just plain, no frou frou or frills here.  The nude (below) reminds me of a real ballet slipper...

The options are: black, black patent, nude, claret, mandarin, sapphire and ivory.  They are $195 at Nordstrom.

I have to admit that I've been enjoying the flats I bought earlier this year... yikes, I must be old now!  But really, it makes the walk home from the subway a lot more comfortable and faster.

Since I was on the topic of Alexander Wang dresses already this week... look at this beautiful Alexander Wang dress at Saks Fifth Avenue: Pique Goddess Dress, $595.

Love it!  But again, a bit pricey!  $595 for a dress and my budget do not work together!

Here's an Andrew Marc dress with similar styling: Grecian Style Tee Shirt Dress, $188.

And, even better, if you're a Rue La La member it's in a private sale today for only $79!

I ran across this Alexander Wang dress at shopbop.  I love the zipper and that it has an interesting back.  It's made of a stretch jersey of viscose, polyamide and elastane.  It's on sale for $416.50, 30% off the regular price of $595!

I love this, but even on sale it's a bit expensive... for me anyway, since I hardly ever wear cocktail dresses.  I don't mind spending a good amount of $ on things I know I will get tons of use out of...

I have been lamenting for some time that I didn't just buy the LAMB Tammy strappy sandals when they were still available (they came out in early 2009).  I guess I was too cheap at the time because they were $349 and I think that is a lot for a shoe made in Brazil... so I procrastinated and never bought them and then they were gone... sold out.

Lamb_tammy_SUM10.jpg

They have a 1/4 inch platform and 4-1/4 inch heels, black with zipper detail at the back.

Well... for the heck of it I added them in my size to my saved searches in ebay, and a pair came up for auction last week!  The auction ended on Sunday morning, I was at my sister's house but she kindly let me steal her computer to monitor the end of the auction.  They'd been bid up to $62 and seemed to be staying there.  In the last seconds I put in a maximum bid of $100 and crossed my fingers.... and I won them for $69.69!!!  They are new in box and everything!  What an amazing deal.  I should receive them in the next couple of days.  I hope they are as great in person, but for such a deal it doesn't really matter anyway.

This is weird perhaps, but I really like this crab necklace by Roberto Coin.  I have no idea why I like crabs so much, I guess because they're kind of cute, and also are very tasty?

Roberto Coin 'Tiny Treasures' Diamond Crab Necklace, $880.

It's 18k gold and really is "tiny", the pendant is only about 1/2".   I guess most people who get this are probably getting it for their zodiac sign.  The crab is Cancer (June 21 - July 22).  I'm a Scorpio, oh well.

I don't know what's going on lately, but I've been shopping at the Gap.  Like I said before, I haven't really frequented it for several years, since my early 20s probably, because I've had this perception in my head that it was too cheap.  Well, I guess I've become a frugal fashionista because I've been checking them out lately and liking what I see.

I got this great sweater last weekend: Drape Front Cardigan ($69.50).  It's almost sold out online, but they still have it in stores.  The fabric is a wonderful blend of cotton, silk and modal, so it's super soft and a great weight for layering in the Summer.  The half length sleeves and floppy look make it just great for a casual but not bumish-looking layer.

The reason I even went in was because of the cardmember thank you sale, an extra 25% off anything... and I have the BR card, so it works at the Gap too.  So the sweater was only $52.13.

Tweezers for Less
June 11, 2010

For some reason I always manage to drop my tweezers and dent the tips.  This is SO annoying because they're expensive.  I have long been a devotee of the Rubis Slant Tweezers, $35.

Rubis_slant.jpg

But, I recently discovered Mehaz Slant Tweezers, $24.95, and they even come with a little faux leather storage pouch!  They're made in Solingen, Germany which is where all good cutlery is made (Wustof, Henckels).

I find that they work just as well as the Rubis!

I was at the Gap over the weekend... I hardly ever go there, I'm not sure why.  I guess I think it's too cheap.  Well slap my hand, I found a great pair of jeans!

It seems like every brand is doing white denim this season so when I saw Gap's skinny cropped jeans ($69.50) in white I tried them on right away!  Well, not exactly "right away", they had to take the last pair of size 0s off the mannequin.

Gap_crop_skinny_SUM10_1.jpg

The fit was perfect, and they were 25% off... and then I got an extra 20% off because there was a bit of dirt on the leg probably from when they were putting them on/off the mannequin....so they ended up $40-something, crazy!!!

They look quite good with these Gucci sandals from my shoe archive (Summer 08).

The only problem with white jeans is that you generally feel terrified to sit down anywhere in case it's not clean!

Gucci, owner of the Alexander McQueen label, announced today that Sarah Burton will take over as the new creative director.  She was head of womenswear design and has been with the company since 1996.  (Read more about it at Fashionista and The NYT.)

Speaking of McQueen, I've been wanting to buy something in homage because I don't own anything from the brand.  I am totally in love with these shoes, but they are just TOO expensive...

Alexander McQueen Leather Pumps with Skull Heads, $879.

Since I was on the topic of SATC this week, I will continue.  If anyone wanted to channel an SJP look, there is a very yellow dress by Halston available right now at theOutnet.com at a substantial discount.

Halston Draped Silk Blend Dress, Regular Price $1995, Outnet Price $698.25.

Both Carrie and SJP love Halston and SJP just wore this color (but Valentino) to the NY premiere of the movie.
