Before the holidays, it's always nice to get a pretty new dress.  I'm eying this beautiful lace dress from Diane Von Furstenberg.  (Zarita Lace Dress, $325)  Lace can look a bit demure, but this dress is spiced up with the exposed zipper down the back.  Incredible, isn't it!

I have to admit that this chachkee (how do you spell that?) seems rather silly, but when I think about it... there have actually been tons of times when I'm out at a restaurant and have no where to put my bag except for the grungy floor.  How annoying is that?

I've seen these hooks before, but never a really classy one like this Bag Hook from Aspinal of London, $29.

It seems like a decent thing to keep in your bag for such occasions.  What do you think, silly or cool?

October Objects of Desire
September 30, 2010

I don't know about you, but every Fall I just feel like shopping!  I always get a few things in clothing.  Lately it's just been reasonably priced stuff from Banana Republic, J. Crew or even the Gap (loving their jeggings this Fall!).

But sometimes you just want to splurge a bit.  Here's what I've got my eyes on.

David Yurman Black Onyx Cushion on Point Ring, $795.  I have one of his rings in smoky quartz and I just love it.  This one would be even more versatile since it's black.

Wolford Lisbon Bodysuit, $220.  This is kind of a throw back, but I was reading an interview with Donna Karan in Bazaar's Oct. issue and she mentioned bodysuits.  I kind of forgot about them, but they really are great when you don't want the lumpiness of a tucked in shirt.  Wolford makes the best, but you certainly pay dearly for it.

Pour La Victoire Irina in Black Nappa Leather, $255.  I love this shoe.  It has that clompy looking high platform that you see from Yves Saint Laurent but at a much nicer price!

The J. Crew Outlet is now online as the J. Crew Factory store

They are open for business only weekends:  Friday 12 am to Sunday midnight.

I guess the selection will keep changing every weekend.  That puts the pressure on!  They've got some cute things.  The prices are lower than regular J. Crew but not super cheap.  For example a double serge wool bistro mini is $69.50, stretch wool trousers $79.50.

It looks like Blake Lively was wearing the new Bibi pump from Christian Louboutin last night at the big Fashion's Night Out fashion show at Lincoln Center.

I'm so glad to see Louboutin doing a different heel finally.  The thicker heel is in particular better with these 5-1/2 inch heels so you don't kill yourself falling down... a little more stability is a good thing for sure!

The shoe is available for pre-order at Saks now in brown only.  Hopefully black will be available also!

You can watch the Gucci SPR/SUM 11 Fashion Show LIVE... if you want to get up early.  It will be simulcast at 8 AM Wednesday September 22nd.

You need to RSVP here.  I think it's so nice that they're making the show accessible to virtually anyone.  Wow, how times have changed!

By the way, the really cool tights the model is wearing in the photo above are currently available at gucci.com, here.  They are $95.  That's not too bad... about twice the cost of Wolford...

All the fashion editors are raving over army green for Fall.  Here's an interesting way to add a touch... Marc by Marc Jacobs Saddlery Sophie Tote, $478.

MJ_saddlebag1.jpg

The leather has a lovely looking pebbled texture, and it has a detachable, adjustable shoulder strap - - love that!  They've used a Gucci-esque 2 tone canvas strap for the shoulder strap.

Wow!  I love this bag. Green is good too because it goes with black and brown shoes!  $478 for Marc by Marc Jacobs seems a bit expensive though, and I bet you anything this bag is made in China.  I'd hate to see what Marc Jacobs Collection bags are going for now... well, let's just answer that question.  The Collection bags seem to range from around $800 for a small bag (too small for everyday) to well over $1000 for larger bags, the more details the more expensive. like $1795 for a woven hobo with fringe.  And the Collection bags are made in Italy.

I saw a print ad for this bag in the New York Magazine fall fashion issue, and it caught my eye.  I usually wouldn't consider such a bright color, I'm not really a color person... but I don't know, there is something compelling about this...

Kate Spade Five Points Camille, $475.  It is Italian leather with light gold hardware.

The inside is lined with a cheerful silk stripe fabric.

It's certainly different! I do wear so much black though... I don't want to look Halloween-ish??

Fashion Blog Celebflair
August 16, 2010

I love reading the various fashion blogs like CelebStyle, Fashionista, FabSugar, etc. and I recently ran across a new one: CelebFlair.

It's similar to CelebStyle.  It shows outfits and how you can get the look with similar pieces that are less expensive.

I received a Fall preview from Bloomingdale's in the mail, mostly I didn't like vibe, I can't really explain, maybe too grungy and too many skinny jeans and leggings, jeggings?

One thing I did really like though is this Juicy Couture Military Jacket, $298 (a bit pricey though!)

JC-mil-jacket.jpg

It's hard to tell from the picture, but it is black, not navy blue.  I like the double buttons and zipper detailing.  I like this kind of little jacket because you can wear it in the Fall as a light coat, but other seasons when it would be too cold to wear it as a coat you can just make it part of your outfit.
