I was watching The Devil Wears Prada again the other day and I've found myself thinking about the Chanel necklace Anne Hathaway got to wear in a couple different scenes.  I'm pretty sure it's Chanel costume jewelry (not Chanel Fine Jewelry).  It's kind of suprising that Chanel, such a luxe brand, even makes costume jewelry, but it is said that Coco Chanel actually introduced costume jewelry to the fashion world back in the 1920s.  Chanel_devil_wears_prada Chanel_necklace

I wonder how much something like this costs?  I can't find Chanel jewelry for sale online anywhere, I suspect that they don't allow it. I guess I'll have to go to the Chanel boutique in New York to check it out.

Hey,
I just bought that necklace today at the Chanel store on Michigan Ave. in Chicago. I paid $850 and here is an interesting info: you don't get an authentication card with jewelry purchase at the Chanel store.
I was sadly surprised to see my necklace at www.ioffer.com for $30 and I really can't tell the difference :(

Wow! I can't believe you don't get an authenticity card from the Chanel store, that seems strange!! Thanks for letting me know the price, I still haven't been to the Chanel store here in Manhattan, I'm afraid if I do, there'll be little chance that I leave without the necklace (which is good and bad). :-)

I was at the Chanel store on 57th street in New York and the necklace is $1495. It comes in a beautiful box with a chanel pouch for storage and is made in France. It doesn't have an authenticity card so to speak, but DUH, when you buy something AT A CHANEL STORE you know it's authentic.
