I mentioned a long time ago that I've been looking for a pair of flats because my boss makes fun of me when I come in wearing my
Converse sneakers... (and then change into Gucci, Louboutin or Marc Jacobs) I was beginning to think that I was going to have to break down and buy some Chanel ballet flats because I have not been able to find anything quite right. The thing is, I hate flats, so frankly I didn't/don't want to spend a lot on them. Their purpose for me is function only... that being walking to and from the subway on my way to and from work. I always used to just wear my beautiful shoes, but I've been caught in bad rain twice wearing Gucci and that is just unacceptable. One pair was ruined, one pair I sort of saved because I ran into a store and bought socks and took the shoes off and ran the rest of the way home in socks - yes, seriously I did that. The shoes are not ruined, but they'll never be perfect again.
So.... anyway, I found some flats online the other day that I thought might be acceptable. They're Aerosoles of all things - comfortable shoes! Ha, funny! (not something I usually consider)
Aerosoles Beckton Flat, $55.95

They arrived yesterday and I like them well enough to keep them. I think they'll do the job and they aren't hideous. They have that cute ballet slipper look. The quilted toe is slightly Chanel-esque.
I can't believe how long it took me to find something! I would have bought Tory Burch flats long ago if I could have found a pair that didn't have the huge gaudy gold thing on the toe. They used to have a pair with the big round thing on the toe done in matching black leather, and that would have been okay.
This (
Reva Flat, $195), I find a bit garrish to say the least.

Not to mention every girl on the freaking Upper East Side has a pair of these... along with the obligatory
Burberry Quilted Jacket and
Longchamps Bag. (eek, yes I too have those, so I don't want to become a total clone)
