Halston Draped Silk Blend Dress, Regular Price $1995, Outnet Price $698.25.

Both Carrie and SJP love Halston and SJP just wore this color (but Valentino) to the NY premiere of the movie.

I'm not really a St. Patrick's Day person (sorry, no green beer for me, no beer at all for that matter!) ... but it does make you think about green things... like EMERALDS!
Remember Angelina's amazing (and huge) emerald earrings at the Oscars last year? Wow! But they must have hurt her ears, you can't wear earrings that heavy for too long...

Here are some from Blue Nile with diamonds that us mere mortals have a chance of being able to afford: Pear-Shaped Emerald and Diamond Drop Earrings, $1,210.

Lace has been popular with the designers over the last couple of years. Remember Prada's gorgeous lace for Fall '08?
Here's Charlize wearing one of Prada's lace dresses, Aug. '08.

Well, it's still going strong. Kelly Ripa just wore Stella McCartney's beautiful lace dress to a Letterman appearance. (Stella herself wore the jumpsuit version ($4,815) in black to the Met's Costume Institute Ball last year)

Here's the beautiful dress similar to Kelly's at Net-a-porter. ($1,825)

Here's a Philip Lim take on the same idea. ($750)

Okay, so it's not nearly as detailed or quite as beautiful as the other examples, but Zara has a little lace dress for only $59.50!

I came as close as I'll ever get to Anna Wintour last night, we were both at the U.S. Open!

Blake was out Tuesday night in New York wearing Kate Moss for Topshop.

I'm usually not a huge fan of Kate Moss' collection for Topshop, but this dress is nice and it looks great on Blake.
The dress, All-Over Beaded Shift Dress, was selling for $560, but is on sale now for $160! I wonder if she got it on sale?

Gwyneth's line for the French brand ZOEtees (known for their chic jersey basics) goes on sale Monday. It will be sold exclusively online at the UK site matchesfashion.com.
The collection inlcudes jersey dresses, vests, slouchy jumpsuits, leggings, blazers etc. Prices begin at about $165. The bummer though is that shipping to the US from the UK site is 30£. Yikes, that's about $50!
I love this dress though. It's chic but also looks SO comfortable.

Proceeds from sales will go to the charity, Kids Company, a London based organization that helps inner city children.
You can check out VF's 2009 International Best-Dressed List on their website.

I don't know... it seems kind of random. I mean what are Renee Zellweger and Lapo Elkann doing in the "Hall of Fame" section with Catherine Deneuve? Why aren't the President and Michelle Obama listed under the couples section... and seriously, do they deserve to be on the list at all? (he just got in trouble for wearing dorky jeans and please... despite all the press saying otherwise, we all know that Michelle wears a ton of frumpy, boring and sometimes garish clothes - - granted, along with a few real winners). And how about Alicia Keys and Anne Hathaway, huh??? Anne can only dress when her stylist picks her clothes out for her.
Anyway, take a look at the slideshow. It's interesting.
This past weekend I was walking around my wonderful UES neighborhood (70s, Third Ave.) and I passed these super cool shorts in the window of Anik (1355 Third Ave.) so I went in to check them out.
They were the AG Ex-Boyfriend Jean Shorts with 17 year distressed finish. ($185)

They had run out of most sizes, they only had 27 and these run really big... But the shorts are amazing.
They had smaller sizes of the same but in the cropped length (AG Ex-Boyfriend Cropped, $225). Unfortunately I didn't like the way they looked on me. There was too much bunching of fabric in the front... kind of that frumpy Katie Holmes look she sported around New York last late Summer.

Below, I think they look best on Vanessa (although she should lose the cap).

Hayden Panettiere was on Letterman last night looking fantastic in a sleek Caroline Seikaly black lace dress. She certainly looks older than a teenager... (she's 19)! This is a fairly dramatic style change for her, maybe on purpose... since she's getting older and doesn't want to be thought of forever as the cute little cheerleader...?
Who is Caroline Seikaly, anyway, right? I'd never even heard of her before. She's a Parisian designer with offices at 93 Ave. Henri Martin in the 16th (funny, that address is just steps away from where I lived when I studied in Paris during college). Oddly, her website hasn't been updated since the Winter 2008 collection. She did just show her 2010 Resort Collection here in New York at the Cooper Square Hotel on June 9th. Hayden's dress was featured in that show...

Hayden is also wearing Stuart Weitzman's Tijuana Sandal ($365 at zappos)

Here's a good deal on a Prada tote at Smart Bargains. The regular retail price was $1275, it was at Smart Bargains for $999.99, but now it's on sale for $849.98.
Prada Black Ruched Nylon Tessuto Tote

It's got nice leather detailing and is lined with the signature Prada jacquard weave fabric. It's a nice big size aprox. 14" x 13" x 7".
It's a similar look to the Prada denim tote Jessica Biel was seen out with earlier in June.

I guess the only complaint one may have about this bag it that you have to carry it in your hand or hook it on your arm (a la Vuitton Speedy) because you cannot carry it on your shoulder.
Nicky Hilton was out in LA wearing the khaki zip dress by Vena Cava for the Gap Design Editions. The khaki series of limited editions are designed by finalists of the 2008 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund. Here's what's left on the website:

I think Nicky's dress is the best piece of the collection. I like the way they updated a classic cut with the zipper detail and print. It's $88 and right now is still in stock online in all sizes.

Fergie is on the cover of Allure's July issue looking pretty good... it looks like she's lost the weight she had to gain for that movie... Anyway, I was looking at this and thinking, wait, I know that swimsuit! It's none other than J. Crew's Seaside Seersucker. (who said seersucker was for geeks?) And, it's on sale right now!

Seaside Seersucker Underwire French Top, regular price $46, on sale now for $29.99. And Seaside Seersucker Bikini, regular price $42, on sale for $29.40. They come in papaya (as seen on Fergie), dark charcoal and bright sun.

Wow, this makes me feel old. Remember little Hermione... going back to the first Harry Potter movie (2001)... well now Emma is 19 and is getting great gigs like being the face of Burberry! Not too shabby!
She looks fabulous in the new ads shot by Mario Testino.

And while on the Burberry topic, they have a whole selection of denim now. Maybe I'm a little behind, but I hadn't realized that. The prices are pretty reasonable too, most are $225 which is about what you'd pay for the average designer jean.

I'm not usually a huge fan of Jessica Biel's fashion sense, but she looked great the other night!

It's a pretty simple outfit - - but the accessories make it great. The chunky necklace is fab, and of course... the shoes! Oooh, I am so jealous. They are the Gucci Iman Platfoms from the Spring/Summer Collection.

With super high 5-1/2" heels. The best thing is that they're on sale right now at Saks. Regular price $1,150, sale $804.90.
Giorgio Armani is this week's guest blogger for the New York Times' "The Moment" section since he's here for his store opening and it's Fashion Week. He's posted 2 entries so far on Monday and Tuesday.

It's cool to get a glimpse into the life of someone like this. But he does come off as a bit of a snob. About dining at Scott Conants' Scarpetta, he says "I liked the décor and the food was pretty good, but you know the service was a bit slow. I ate spaghetti con pomodoro and basilico -- and, here, I must interject something for your benefit. Americans overcook their pasta. Always. And there's too much sauce. Too much of everything! Please, try to control yourselves." Geez. Actually overcooked pasta is TOTALLY one of my pet peeves too, but it's not true that every single place in the U.S. overcooks the pasta.
And about going out to a club he says "I noticed that the crowd was dressed in a rather basic way. In Europe, the people you see at clubs are extremely beautiful to look at and are wearing very elegant clothes." Maybe it was a bad fashion night at Cielo, but it does seem that he is rather eager to castigate us boorish Americans. That's not very cool.
Vogue's March cover with feature our new first lady! It's only the second time in history the first lady will have appeared on the cover of Vogue. You would think it might have been Jackie Kennedy, but it was Hillary Clinton in 1998.

The photos are by Annie Leibovitz and the accompanying article by Andre Leon Talley.

I see they have Wedgwood Oberon (see teacup above). I always loved that pattern. Maybe it was a prop for the photo shoot though...
Angelina Jolie has these fabulous peep toe pumps in a nude tone and has been photographed wearing them several times in the last few months. The nude color seems to be sold out though (big surprise). Stylists say that nude color shoes are great for giving youself a longer, slimmer line, to make your legs look longer - Angelina certainly doesn't have to worry about that. She looks great in any color shoes!

But they're still available in black and a very nice red shade (fire quasar) at zappos.com. $285 and $298 respectively. Patent leather, 4 inch heel, made in Spain.

Madonna looks so amazing in this W magazine photo shoot. (photographer Steven Klein) Seeing this makes me believe that some of the really freaky pictures you see of her are definitely photoshopped.

Here in a vintage sequined gown:

And a vintage Dior wool suit:

She's an inspiration. These days age isn't something you just have to accept. Even if you're not super rich... with proper skin care and keeping yourself fit; I think, can help keep you young-looking.
